For the 2024-2025 School Year, Devices will be issued as follows:

Every student in the Biddeford and Dayton School Departments will be assigned a school-owned device for the school year with the expectation that students/parents will be responsible for returning them in similar condition.

To begin the year, students in Grades PreK through 4 will each be assigned a device that will stay at school, but will be ready to go home in the event of unexpected circumstances or potential quarantines.

Students in Grades 5-12 will be issued a device that may go home with them each day (as determined by their teachers/building). Students should bring their device to school each day--fully charged.

Devices will be assigned during the first week of school.

All staff and students/families are expected to abide by all district policies, particularly those pertaining to the use of technology, as described here:

Technology Policies:

Biddeford:
IJNDB—Student Use of School-Issued Computers, Devices and Internet and Cyber Safety
IJNDB-R—Student Computer/Device and Internet Use Rules
Dayton:
IJNDB—Student Computer and Internet Use
IJNDB-R—Student Computer and Internet Use Rules

Device Protection Plan:

The Device Protection Plan is strongly recommended for students in Grades 5-12.
These students are considered to be in a “one-to-one take-home” device program.
They are allowed to keep the device with them and may end up with the same device for several years.

For Grades PreK through 4, whose devices will be left in the classroom, The Device Protection Plan is not seen as necessary , UNLESS these students end up in a Remote Learning situation, or need to quarantine at home at some point, and will be taking their devices home.
At that time, it would be recommended that parents consider purchasing the Device Protection.

The plan will cover accidental (not intentional) damage and is $30 which will cover your student for one school year, according to the following terms:

  • 1st damage incident--No charge, unless blatant intentional or malicious damage.

  • 2nd incident of damage--families are responsible for 25% of the repair or replacement cost.

  • 3rd incident of damage--families are responsible for 50% of the full repair or replacement cost.

  • 4th+ incidents--families are responsible for the full repair or replacement cost.

If a student/family chooses NOT to purchase device protection, the family is responsible for the full cost of any repair needed to the device, up to and including device replacement cost. Full repair or replacement cost is also incurred for intentional and malicious damage.

For Biddeford and Dayton Students/Families: The Device Protection Plan can only be purchased through this site.

Below are a few costs incurred for various parts/replacements. These are full costs, so they are greatly reduced if the Device Protection has been purchased:

  • iPad Replacement: $325

  • iPad Screen Repair Cost: $250

  • Full Chromebook Replacement: $350

  • Chromebook Screen Repair: $250

  • Chromebook Keyboard Replacement: $150

  • iPad/Chromebook Carrying Case: $20

  • Chromebook Charger: $15

  • iPad Charger: $30

*If the device has a failure of an internal part, it will be repaired at no cost to the student/family.

For problems/issues with devices, students/parents should immediately inform the student's teacher, who will then contact the Technology Department. This will keep the teacher and others at the school aware of the situation's progress and the remedy.
